Description

Field trips at OCRA are where you as an educator can put the fun back in functional fitness. Your class will receive an Obstacle 101 from the owner where he will show you tips and tricks on how to overcome each obstacle with proficiency and efficiency. The owner has perfected his instruction so that everyone can understand the rules and how to overcome each obstacle with confidence.

What’s Included?

Our field trips run for approximately 2 hours, which we’ve found to be the ideal amount of time for kids to get the most out of our facility. Upon arrival, our instructors will greet the group and help organize belongings into cubbies or hooks. The experience begins with an Obstacle 101 session, where an instructor walks the group through each obstacle, demonstrating proper technique and ensuring safety protocols are understood. Once the walkthrough is complete, kids are given free time to explore the obstacle course, where our staff remains available to supervise and offer tips. Depending on the group’s energy and timing, we may also organize a fun challenge or mini obstacle race toward the end to wrap things up on a high note. This structure allows for a balance of instruction, freedom, and friendly competition—keeping the experience fun, safe, and memorable.

Why do a field trip at OCRA

Today’s kids are constantly overstimulated by technology, and for many, traditional sports just don’t hold their attention. From an evolutionary perspective, children are wired to run, jump, climb, and swing. Think about it—before the internet, what did kids do for fun? They explored, played outside, and used their environment creatively.
At OCR Academy, we believe it’s essential to let kids do dangerous things carefully. The confidence they gain by overcoming physical obstacles helps them build the mental resilience needed to face real-world challenges. When a child says, “If I can jump off a 12-foot wall into a crash mat, I can do this assignment,” that’s the kind of mindset we’re aiming to instill.
We want our kids to grow up resilient—and that starts by giving them opportunities to face obstacles and overcome them, with the support of their peers and mentors.

Who will benefit from this program?

This program is ideal for elementary, middle, and high school students, offering age-appropriate challenges that promote physical literacy, confidence, and teamwork. College students—especially those preparing for careers in emergency services or first responder programs—can also benefit. Our Fitness Challenge is designed to reveal areas of strength and highlight opportunities for improvement, giving students a chance to grow, adapt, and build resilience before facing a formal fitness test. It’s a safe, supportive way to prepare both the body and mind for real-world physical demands.

OCR Academy has been proudly operating since 2015, hosting field trips for public, Catholic, and private schools across Ontario and Quebec.
We are a state-of-the-art, OPHEA-certified facility, ensuring our programming meets high standards for physical education and safety. All of our instructors are trained in safety protocols, and our facility is fully covered by certified liability insurance, giving schools and parents peace of mind during every visit.

Health & Safety

If your child has a fever or has had one in the last 48 hours, please stay home. Students who are exhibiting symptoms of illness may not be permitted into the facility.
All participants must meet the minimum age requirement of 7 years.

Billing Info

Please out the form below to reserve your spot. The cost is $20 per student plus tax. Our capacity is 45 children per 2 hour slot.
We will require the total amount to be paid within 30 days once the invoice is received, so if your school pays by cheque, please let us know where we must submit our invoice so we can receive the payment before your scheduled time.
If your school pays by CC please direct us to the department who handles this.
