Our field trips help students rediscover a fun, positive ‘play’ mindset with fitness which has been consistently linked with increased academic performance, healthier social relationships and a more balanced sense of self worth.

Description

Gym class at school is alright, but gym class at OCRA is where you as an educator can put the fun back in Functional Fitness. Your class will receive an Obstacle 101 from the owner where he will show you tips and tricks on how to overcome each obstacle with proficiency and efficiency. The owner has perfected his delivery so that everyone can understand the rules and how to overcome each obstacle with confidence.

What’s Included?

Times to book are between 9-1:00 pm. Your total time on the course will be 90 mins.

Once the rules are explained and obstacles are demonstrated (roughly 20 minutes) the kids will have free time to explore the obstacles.

After about 30-40 minutes, the class will be given a challenge where they will be broken up into 2 teams and compete for supremacy.

The challenge usually incorporates a cardio machine (ski, row, or bike) followed by our row of walls, carrying or move something heavy, monkey bars, perhaps a farmers carry and finish with one of our warped walls (10f, 12f,14f).

You are permitted to stay in the café area for lunch but please note that we do have a max capacity of 30 in our café.

Why do a field trip at OCRA

Kids are constantly being overstimulated with technology, and for some, the sports we grew up with just are not stimulating enough. We have found that, evolutionary speaking, our youth are designed to run, jump, climb, and swing. Think about it, for 100’s of years before the internet, what did we do for enjoyment? Utilized what we had outdoors. It is so important that we allow our kids to try dangerous things CAREFULLY.

The confidence they build by overcoming our obstacles and challenges, we believe will help them overcome any challenge that is presented to them in their own world. “If I can jump off a 12-foot wall into a crash mat, I can do this assignment.” We want our kids to build resiliency and that can be done by being presented with a challenge and overcoming it with the help of our peers and educators.

Who will benefit from this program?

This program is ideal for Elementary, Middle and High School kids. As well as College kids, especially those training for a first responder program. Our Fitness Challenge will really help expose any weaknesses your student may have so they can learn and grow before their fitness test.

School Board Info

OCR Academy has been in operation since 2015 and has hosted field trips for Public, Catholic and Private schools from both Ontario and Quebec.

We are a state of the art OPHEA Certified Facility, our trainers all have to date CPR training and we are fully covered by certified liability insurance.

Health & Safety

If your child has a fever or has had one in the last 48 hours, please stay home.

Students who are exhibiting symptoms of illness may not be permitted into the facility.

All participants must meet the minimum age requirement of 7 years.

We will accept those who are turning 7 during the summer months.

Billing Info

Please out the form below to reserve your spot. The cost is $15 per student plus tax. Our capacity is 45 children per 90 minute slot.

We will require the total amount to be paid within 30 days once the invoice is received, so if your school pays by cheque, please let us know where we must submit our invoice so we can receive the payment before your scheduled time.

If your school pays by CC please direct us to the department who handles this.
